How to remove the ECM
I'm trying to remove the ECM from a 1996 LS 400 in order to have it refurbished. After removing the glove box, I removed the nuts from the lower mounting bracket of the ECM. However, I'm not sure how to access the nuts to the upper mounting bracket. Do I also need to remove the CD box in order to access the upper bracket mounting nuts?

I don't know about that year but I just did this on my 90. And you had to remove the glove box liner in mine. I just need to figure out if I have to get it flashed/reprogrammed if I swap the ECU. you happen to know? Why you replacing yours, just curious?

Have had intermittent engine problems. After several trips to the Lexus dealer, they now think its the ECM, but they're not sure. They gave of quote of $1300 to replace it. So hoping I can just remove the existing one send it off to be refurbished.
Not sure about whether this will be a problem with my key remote (e.g. FOB).
