The 97-00 sc400 diffs have a 3.26 ratio as opposed to a 3.9, and are a direct swap besides a wider mounting points for the drive shaft. Though the aluminum driveshaft adapter should have both sizes(92-96 and 97-00).

Put the newer diff into my SC with a cd009 and the cars acceleration isn't quite as good but it drives smoother and cruises better, I'd recommend it to get more use out of first gear.

It's been awhile sense I've updated this, the car hasn't change any besides the addition of a HIC USA rear window visor.
I did have both the clutch line and bleeder line fail one day, the came loose from the location I had the routed and got melted by the exhaust ended up being a pricey fix lol.
After thinking long and hard about so thing for the future of this project I had finally decided to swap out the 1uz for a 5.3 ls motor. I originally wanted to boost the 1uz but after market suport is slim and expensive. Dont get me wrong I love the 1uz but the 5.3 will be better for my power goals.
i picked up an 5.3 with 799 heads that are pretty much the same as the ls1 243 heads. The motor was torn apart when I bought it, attempted to get it cleaned up by hand but decided to send it to a local machine shop for work, it's getting bored .20 over and getting geting flat top pistons. Picked up a Brain tooley racing (BTR) stage 1 turbo cam kit.
Still have a small fortunes worth of parts to purchase but should make a good amount of power when it's done

HIC USA rear window visor

Had to pull the cd009 out to replaced the 2 lines that got melted by the exhaust

Was attempting to clean the block by hand before deciding to take it to machine shop to have work done

BTR stage 1 cam kit, dual platinum springs, spring seats and retainers, valve seals and hardened push rods

This is where i want the car to be when its finished (not my car)

Its been a long time sense ive posted about my build, car has not changed to much only a few things sense i posted last.
Plans have changed for the car though, was going to go LS but the purest in me decided to keep the 1uz and turbo that instead, currently gathering parts for the build hoping to get the car to a friends shop here soon to pull the motor for some well needed maintenance.
picked up a MS3PRO EVO for the engine management, have a 50mm waist gate and blow off valve from vs racing, have a much of new seals for the motor. picked up another intake manifold and valve covers to have an fitings welded to them for a catch can set up.
timing belt kit and ls400 fan idler pulley should be here tomorrow. still need to order arp head studs and mls head gaskets and upgraded valve springs to have whats needed to tear the motor down and put back togetther,

the "new" 3.26 rear end from a sc430

cleaning and prepping for paint

looks almost new

old 3.92 vs "new" 3.26, it made worlds of a difference withe cd009 swap, the gearing is no longer stupid short.

3.26 installed, and believe it or not was all done with out removing the exhaust

the is300 steering wheel i installed when i first bought the car

nrg slim hub

the new wheel sat far to close to the turning signal and wiper stalks

clearance on the wiper stalk side

didnt really want to run quick release bc i never been a fan of them, but was surprised on how solid this unit was

made a huge difference

the new nardi wheel

the start of the parts pile still have alot more to go

the last day i drove it before being parked for the winter

Your car looks great!

Question on the CD009 swap, did you need to massage your transmission tunnel at all? I have everything needed to get this done except the time at the moment. I just want to be as prepared as possible...

The kit i purchased from collins performance didnt require and massaging of the trans tunnel.
i had to cut the bell housing off the cd009 and use the auto 1uz bell housing thats what gave it clearance

Awesome, i’ve already done that part. Got the auto bell housing installed onto the CD009. I’m also glad because your tunnel should be the same as mine being as though you have an early SC like me. Thanks also for the info on using the Dakota digital unit to fix the speedo.

Just found your Great thread. Read it last night, every word. I know your schedule is busy but would appreciate if you could answer the following questions: What size tires are you running in the rear with the 10 inch wheels?
Have you changed out the rear brakes?
Did you have to change out the input flange on the SC430 diff or was that taken care of by the new driveshaft adapter?
Did the SC430 diff come with limited slip?
At your convenience, since at this time I am gathering information for the near future.
Thanks,
Bill

the tire size 265/35r18 on the 10.5in rear wheel, they had a bit of a stretch to them and i hated it lol
never changed out the rear brakes
And the sc430 only came as an open diff, and as for the flange I did not have to change the flange put, the aluminum disk for the drive shaft to rear diff was drilled for both the flange of the sc300/400 and sc430. It came with the cd009 swap kit from Collins performance.

Zack,
I do appreciate you taking time to answer my questions. I am collecting parts for my SC300 that I love so much and will start a build thread one of these days.
Thanks you for your time,
Bill
