IS250 Daily Driver Build - South Korea
So recently moved to South Korea to spend time with family and a new job opportunity. I've owned and built a plethora of vehicles ranging from Big Turbo Audi A4's to LS swapping my 911, track dedicated E36, etc.
Moving to Korea is a temporary move (1-2 years) so I knew I didn't want to buy a super luxury or super nice car but wanted something that I could enjoy. In kicked my high-school nostalgia feels. Really wanted an IS back then but being financially dependent on my parents at that time, couldn't afford it. So now that I'm in Korea and it's been over a decade since then, I started looking for an ISF, then found out there aren't many ISF's imported and they wanted 30k+ for clapped out cars. Started looking for an IS350, same result as the ISF, practically non-imported. So this lead to the IS250, many many available and all really affordable.
So picked up a bone stock 2010 IS250 with 164,xxx KM on the clock (102,xxx miles) back in August of 2021.
Since then I've added the following as a fun daily driver bias:
- aFe/Takeda Replica Intake w/ heat shield (aka eBay special)
- Xforce Exhaust (X-pipe mid)
- RR Racing Tune
- RR Racing LCA-R Bushings
- AST Moton Lowering Springs
- Y38 BRZ/FRS 4.11 T2 Differnetial (had to get this imported from the states)
- EBC Yellows (Front and Rear)
- eBay Rear Diffuser
- eBay Rear Trunk Lip Spoiler
- eBay window visors
- Spacers for the OEM Wheels
- Thule Roof Rack
Now I recently found out there are F2 and F1 tracks in Korea and that some co-workers are huge track addicts like I am and suddenly I'm going down a rabbit hole for other parts.
Parts list below are parts that have been ordered and are currently enroute or are already on the car.
- SSR Type F 18" w/ Nexen SUR4G tires
- IS350 Front and Rear Brakes
- Megan Racing Adjustable Rear Sway Bar
- External Transmission Oil Cooler
- Removable Steering Wheel (Designed a paddle shifter/cruise control holder so I can retain those functions with a new wheel)
- Planted Seat Brackets
- Recaro Buckets
- Schroth Harnesses

Everyday maintenance items I can buy from Lexus of Korea but I had to import a walnut blaster so that I can clean the valves etc personally.

Nice wrap color choice!
Nice to see a diff upgrade there. It'll be WELL needed!
My wife worked at the Yongsan International School of Seoul for a couple of years. She loved it there...minus the COLD winters and the lack of affordable foods that we take for granite here in the states. Enjoy your stay!
