Talking 2013 IS250 AWD - Special Edition - HELP BUILD!!

Hi all,

I recently got a near-new 2013 Special Edition for a really good deal, which left me with some extra $ blow on upgrades. So...I was wondering if you guys can give me suggestions on the best wheel set up, the best BBK, the best performance mods (I know there isn't much for the 250). And I'll grab the most voted parts and post the progress!

Wheel Set up:

Not looking to lower yet. But I like the LC818's...maybe 19"s

BBK:

IS350 upgrade...or is there better I can get?

Performance:

I'm up for an intake, exhaust, tune,

Here's what it looks like now.Completely Stock!

What is your budget for the wheels/tires and the budget for the BBK?

For all upgrades, I'd say around 5-7k.

ISF brakes... You need ISF hubs though.

Wheels? I don't know how much $ but it'll be expensive. I plastidipped my OEM wheels and they look great.

F-SPORT axleback exhaust (if you're lucky you can get it for 700-800$ on the used market in Ontario)
F-SPORT intake (100-200$ used I guess)

Tuning? You can now (or will be able soon to) send your ECU for a complete custom tuning. Guys are from USA.

5-7k is feasible!

If I were you, I would simply upgrade to IS350 brakes. Buy some salvaged units and have your local shop of choice rebuild them or just go to ebay to buy refurbed units, then paint them and add lexus decals. Honestly, if you have no plans to track your car (even though OEM IS350 BBK is more than adequate for the ocassional track days), an aftermarket BBK just provides the "baller" status. Going this route will free up some cash for other upgrades, like nicer wheels/tires. A set of 19" 2 or 3 piece Work wheels will run you $2-3.5k depending on specs and model. Add another $1k for decent tires.

I highly reco that you lower your car prior to installing larger diameter wheels...it just looks "off". I personally went the coilover route for added adjustability rather than springs/shock combos. Coilovers will run you $800-$1500 for entry to mid level quality.

After the above and with your budget, that'll leave you with enough for a cat-back exhaust and intake if you want some nice growl and a better look. You can't go wrong with Fsport in both cases. However, there's cheaper options for a decent exhaust like Greddy SP.

Why are the tires swapped? Those 245's are supposed to be in the rear, not the front. Same with the 225's that are on the rear. Just wondering...

That's some solid advice, I definitely won't be tracking this. It's just a new DD and I want to keep it somewhat clean. I'll look into the used Is350 brake parts in my area. Thanks!

It's an AWD, it has 225's on all 4.

IS F brakes won't fit an AWD, you can't use the RWD IS F hubs on the AWD.

Hey Jeff,

do you know if I'll get any rubbing from using these wheels?

19x8.5/10 Linea Corse LC818 - Hyper Silver (5x114 +30+38)

Also, what tires do you suggest? I won't be doing any lowering to the car.

Those specs won't rub at stock height, but on AWD I suggest you look for a square setup but you can go staggered just do your research.

If I remember correctly, you can have differing wheel widths and offsets on AWD 2IS's. The thing you have to be weary about is the rolling diameter of the wheels and tires between front and rear. It can only be a few percent difference at most.

Just Buy air suspension from Airlift they make kits for out AWD cars. mines in the shop getting them installed. i went through springs and coils and blew both my axles for being to low. word of advise, you'll save alot of money with bags in the long run.

5 grand to 7 grand is a lot of money or a little bit of money depending on what you want to go for. I say put aside around 1500 - 2000 for wheels and around 2000 for other random mods. If you go bags, they are expensive and will eat up most of your budget. I paid around 4000 for my bags installed and everything. I was on coils before and didn't have an issue. Once you choose suspension and wheels, everything else should come easy.
