Evolution of a 99 GS300
Creating a thread to document the evolution/build of my daughters 1999 Lexus GS300. By no means will this build be extreme but rather a exercise in function>Form with a little form added along the way . The thread will also serve as a ledger to keep tabs on our build cost, links and acknowledge those members who have helped us out along the way.
Would like to start things off with a little background/history of the GS which will be listed below.
2001- Father-n-law took ownership of a Millennium Silver 1999 Lexus GS 300 from Kearney Mesa Lexus in San Diego CA after being discharged from Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas Nevada after undergoing brain surgery to remove a tumor. The GS remained in Las Vegas for a total of 15 years where it was dealership maintained.
11/07/15- The GS300 was purchased from my father-n-law as sweet 16 birthday gift for our daughter with 151,xxx . The GS was driven back to CA where it will begin it's transformation.
12/05/15- Sylvania City Light Bulbs $8.62
12/13/15-Strong Arm Hood Struts $33.78
12/13/15- Flip Style Key Fob $33.99
12/29/15- Napa Sil-Glyde $7.99 Craftsman Cordless Impact Drill $183.59 Case Toyota ATF Type T-IV $71.54OEM Lexus F/R Brake Pads $151.09

Clint It's going to be interesting to see how different/similar our builds turn out in the end.
Now only if I could find a seller for a nice set of 01-05 OEM tailights

01/11/16 Well guys I F****d up! and bought the wrong motors which are pictured above. I should of read the DIY a little more closely and I would of noticed that I needed the 10mm shafts not the 20mm shafts which I ended up ordering from eBay. $17.49
I also posted pics showing the differences between genuine Mabuchi vs China knock off. If it's not obvious the knock off is the one with the red dot on it and not smiling at you.

01/11/16 KYB's (Shocks/Struts) arrived!
Now just discussing with my daughter on whether she wants it dropped slightly on some Tanabe NF210's or leave it at stock height and not have to worry about dips/parking curbs/slanted driveways. LOL you all know what I mean I'm preaching to the choir.

01/16/16- Here's my supplementation to the installation of the rear view mirror with compass STICKY.
Tools needed:
1. #2 phillips screwdriver
2. #30 Torx
3. non-marring pry tools
3. magnetic parts retrieval tool (dropped screws)
4. pick tool (electronic connectors)
I have added pics in order that I removed/installed my mirror with compass.
1. Remove Home-link panel. Note: mounting tabs in all four corners
2. With Home-link panel removed you will have access to two (2) silver Phillips screws that must be removed.
3. Remove courtesy light cover (not pictured) to gain access to two (2) additional silver Phillips screws that must be removed. (located to the right/left of courtesy bulbs) This would be a great opportunity to replace your filament bulbs with LED's.
4. The whole map light console can now be lowered to gain access to the plug that attaches to the mirror. Remove old mirror and replace with mirror w/compass and reverse all removal procedures.
5. Enjoy your new mirror with compass.
