Bailed on my 99 for a 92 >.>
Hello all,
I had started a build on a 1999 SC300 but after seeing all the hoops I was going to have to jump through to get it to pass emissions I gave up on it and thought I gave up on SC's entirely. Then I found this.
1992 SC300 Original 5 speed car, 130k miles with a 2JZ-GTE VVTI motor. I got it for a decent price I think, confirmed that the motor does in fact run but the previous owner absolutely BUTCHERED the wiring harness. I already removed the harness and am trying to find a reasonably priced back glass. Interior is in pretty good shape, everything works all the needles light up.
So I have a couple questions,
I am having a harness made By Tweak'd, currently I have the Aristo ECU which is obviously for an auto. Should I have the harness made for a Supra ECU instead and source a manual VVTI ECU or will the VVTI system still work with no trans inputs?
Do I need to change to the older style throttle body for any reason? The PO said I did but I'm finding out he was wrong on pretty much everything lol. I have both either way.
Thanks for the help!

^^ Welcome and great find! It does need some work but that's not a bad way to get started if you're ready to get into a project! Are you more or less emissions exempt in Colorado with a 1992 model year?
I am not well versed enough to say for certain if your Auto VVT-i ECU will work properly without transmission solenoid inputs but I do think you'd have the best case scenario if you were able to find a JDM 1996-2002 Supra TT 6-speed M/T ECU.
The throttle body shouldn't be an issue unless it were from a drive by wire engine but I am sure that can be confirmed with a bit more info about it and picture.
Looking good so far!
