Thanks, I'm really leaning that way partially being lazy and they'd be a little more subtle when folded up if the back is wrapped in vinyl.

Also, how are you powering the light strands?
They're glued in place on the back of the headliner so they won't move, I cut them as flush as I could, you.can see the spots when they're off and feel some of them if you run your hand across it, particularly the large strands; but it certainly doesn't jump out at you when it's not on. It used an led light engine to illuminate them, the strands are bundled into a connector that mounts in front of the leds and the light is transmitted to the end of each strand.

Thanks Brian, he helped me get it back in (it wasn't all that cooperative with the extra stuff behind the headliner, I couldn't get it secured in place without an extra set of hands) but hasn't been down to see it finished. He's old enough now that he's not wowed by things but wants to check it out.

Fiber optic strands routed on the back of the headliner.

Back in the car, ready to cut the strands flush.

Finished!

Never have seen anything like that, it looks awesome and a lot of work! Very creative!

Thanks, nothing groundbreaking though. It's been done plenty of times before, most notably as a high dollar factory option from Rolls Royce. Still something not often seen and should score a few show points.

Thanks LexusK, gotta get my s together on the old covers. Appreciate it tiguy99, good to see you back...I think I remember you from the early 2000's when I was doing my first retrofit in a 92 ES300.

Working on a few other things. The lighting in the warehouse leads to some odd colored pictures but changed out the center caps to ones with black lettering. The windows and barrels of the wheels are black and my brakes and hubs are black so it made sense to match the center caps.

Also working on a new rear deck cover, fiberglass and filler over the stock deck with holes cut for the sub and port. I finally cut the rear deck sheet metal out to fit the 12" sub as well, it meant giving up the center seat belt but I can't remember the last time I had three people in the back anyway. The cover will be wrapped in suede with mesh grills over the sub and port holes.

you could always do what I did Kyle and get a black female/male lap belt and install it so you don't give up the 3rd belt. in my build thread are the part #'s if you wanna go that route

Good thinking Brian, I've got the center console back there but it might not hurt to at least have a lap belt available to put in the car if needed.

I wasn't sure that was still in there since you changed to black interior

Yeah, I'm just re-wrapping it in black vinyl.

Car looks great

You ever thought of moving the mids and tweets to the pillars? Should raise the stage significantly.

Would also allow you to go with 8's in the kicks if you crave more midbass.

Thanks! I'd definitely consider the pillars if the mids were smaller, these 4" mids would be pretty tough to fit on the pillars. I may fiberglass the door panels for 8" midbasses or even with the current ones but it'd be more for looks than anything. The midbass from this setup is enough for me, the sheet metal panels closing up the door made a noticeable difference over just deadening the doors.

Almost have the interior done, just need to finish the floor mats. Preview of my next project at the bottom as well!

I'm always tempted when I see these come up for sale and this time pulled the trigger on a set of Braga Type 3's!
