That is the 1 million dollar question!
It's a really long story for me. For the LS430 that is.
If you want to know how this car is built to be this silent, you'll figure out why when you go through the process of last dipping. The shop that did the job for me is an authorized installer of plasti-dip, he says this is the toughest car he has done in his life.
I had to be in the shop with him for around 9 days. We took the whole car apart. Every piece their is you can imagine, I took it apart.
What happened was after we got the job done, the rain showed up how bad the job was. Because we didn't get in under the parts. And this car is so sealed from every point it will make you go crazy.
Had to take off every interior of all the doors. Just to be able to take the handles off, because the water got in between the plastic dip layers and the body. So we had to take it apart and spray it naked basically, after that we put all the seals all over the plasti dip so that it does not roll nor allow water in and act as a pocket to hold the water.
This scenario happened all around the car. Like the headlights and how they have a lip over the fender, we had to take them off, spray then install back again. Same for the window trim, also took it off, sprayed then put the trim back on it again.
Literally all around the car. The plastic long piece on the trunk, the tail lights, you name it. The LS430 has seals and rubbers everywhere, and that's what kills the road noise and makes the LS tomb quiet. Every little detail has a rubber on it somehow.

Is it worth it? It is if you choose your color wisely. Plasti dip is an eye grabber. But prepare to put in at least 20 hours of work on the car.

Hey guys I'm currently working on changing all the light bulbs in my car to LED's, or whatever I can yank out and soldier white LED's instead.

Today I tinted my tail lights using the VHT Nightshades.
Turned out pretty good. I'll have the after pics tomorrow.
First time I saw it, I was blown off of how good it looked.
Really liked it, and I thought it gave the interior a touch of elegance.
So I started my way in the world of painting, sanding etc. since I didn't know much about.
Here are the steps I've gone through, and hopefully it result somewhat similar to Squad One's LS.
Sanding the original trim using 4 layers. Starting with 1000, up to 2500.
After that I applied some plastic primer to the super smooth finish I achieved from the sanding. This is placed so the paint can have something to bite on to.
Here is the primer layed down, 1 coat is enough.
Clear coat.
Forgot to add the pic of the gloss black paint. I'll add it when I see the results after the trim dries up.
And it takes no less than 48 hours, more in cold weather.

I got them from back home, overseas, costed only $90. It was a small shop so I wouldn't think they'd have an online website or something like that.
