No I don't think XM has them posted for sale yet.

So I started to tear down things to do the manual conversion and I noticed a terrible oil leak.
Oil was splattered inside the engine covers and on the timing belt and was dripping all over the oil pan.
After spending a couple days just trying to source the leak I found it. The vvti cam was leaking pretty bad.
Soory I'm not good at taking pictures while i'm working. =P

Here was the culprit.

I bought the driftmotion rebuild kit and rebuilt it and did cam seals, front crank seal, timing belt, and valve cover seals. http://www.driftmotion.com/product-p/dm3057.htm

You can see here how bad the oil leak was.

All cleaned up and put back together, i've been driving it since wednesday and it hasn't leaked any oil. Woo hoo!

In the process of fixing the oil leak I got antsy and order daizen sway bar bushings.

I'm not sure if it's the fact that i was a driving a 4runner around while I had engine torn down or the diazen bushings but the car feels completely different. It drives like it's glued to the road.
I cannot wait for it to be manual.

i've almost dropped the auto trans on sunday but I got stuck on the last 4 bolts that are in between the firewall and the block. They are a pain in the ***! Will update and I progress more.

Subscribed. I thought the shifter needed to be extended further, but there is so much false info out there who knows till you actually do it. Keep us posted..

Yes every build I have seen they extend the shifter housing further but, I have a shifter that has a bend in it that moves it back another inch or so. (i'll see if I can grab pictures of it soon)

Nice build man thanks for all the pictures. Looking Good. You plan on fiberglassing the console or building a plate. Can't wait for the updates.

I'm probably going to do a metal plate. Much easier for me.

Made some more progress last night.
Pulled the torque converter and flex plate off last night. found what appears to be an oil leak from the rear main seal housing.
Luxurious but Not VIP-x9ohmks.jpg
Luxurious but Not VIP-ohfps2k.jpg

Also I did some measuring so everyone can see!
Center of shifter housing is 28.5"
Luxurious but Not VIP-5frwvag.jpg

31" with my shifter (shifter is not custom it came out of some other toyota)
Luxurious but Not VIP-myipiit.jpg

Here is where 28.5" lands in the trans tunnel.
Luxurious but Not VIP-0kxsjmm.jpg

31". I believe this is going to land in the perfect spot.
Luxurious but Not VIP-nefclrk.jpg

Also I guess I was wrong it's 2.5" longer than stock.

Interested in seeing this progress. Need to get out and start getting measurements on my own car soon. It's hard to tell by pictures but your shifter definitely looks more eccentric than the mk3 version I have in the garage lol.

Going to exit the AT hole? Mine wasn't nearly as far (looks to be around 28.5" in your picture), but with the stock shifter bends, it made it uncomfortable to shift. Then again, I do like to sit a bit close to the wheel.

Can't wait to see more updates.

yea my pictures suck but the shifter housing will exit at the 28.5 mark. if that shifter I have pushes it too far back i'll just grab another one without a bend. I have options at my disposal haha.

I didnt touch anything on the car but I did pick up a new real main from toyota.

painted my roof wing.
Luxurious but Not VIP-6qukoka.jpg

then I made a plate for my clutch master cuz the original holes I drilled in the firewall look like crap.
Luxurious but Not VIP-v59p2r9.jpg

Luxurious but Not VIP-g8i5htc.jpg

I still need to trim it down just a bit to clear the harness but i'm hoping to start reassembling everything this weekend.
