But it's not really a volvo now is it. It's like guys concidering putting 12v Cummins in the SC. Why? Why not build up the Volvo? i'm wondering how structuraly sound that car is. I see its on the track, but it looks pretty chopped up to me. Like the Dune buggy Sc. Remember that shiznit? Crazy. Oh well at least the Volvo looks cool.

The guy wanted classic look with modern power/reliability. My family has had plenty of volvo's and they all looked great but they were always expensive to fix and maintain. So this guy has the right idea with his project. Plus it's not done yet so let's see how the final product looks.

He could have just done a toyota motorswap.
Yeah, great idea! I'm sure that 30+ year old rusted out frame would hold it nicely. He had to re-do the whole body one way or another... Body-off dated Volvo-resto which would cost twice as much as the 500$ SC in materials alone, or modern SC trimmings/safety systems/Aftermarket support with the body on it?

At the end of the day, like it or not, its one of 209173423 x SC's off the road...

I am always amazed when I see body work like that. Lots of skill and know-how there. I cant even shave fenders right. He could have just done a toyota motor swap and still done all that body work.

OK yea unless its a complete rust bucket.

I'd say it's more along the lines of saving someone's life by transplanting someone else's head and limbs on there... and then turning him into a marathon runner. That guy is a genius.

Hey guys,

RedPhoenix let me know about the thread...

This is my creation and hobby. If you have any questions or suggestions let me know! I would love to hear about any SC drifting or road racing setups, brake suggestions, basically anything performance related!

Thanks!

I'm back.....shop is cleaned out.....got some new tools....I'm skipping racing this season to finish this car.

16 bolts and the whole front suspension, motor, tranny all comes out! I love it!

Started putting it back together, but the supports for the fenders are rusted to ****, I decided that I'm going to rebuild the front end with 1.5" DOM tube and hang the fenders and sheet metal from that, should really stiffen up the front and and will tie the roll cage in nicely.

And now that the motor and tranny are out.....I can steal the bell housing and test fit my new adapter for the manual tranny!

Got a new die for the tube bender today so I can start making the front end tube work. Its adding some structure to the front end, as well as being contoured to fit the fenders so they have something to mount too. I wasn't planning on tubing the whole front end, but the volvo side was so incredibly rusty, this was the simplest, strongest solution. Tomorrow I should start filling in with more tube down to the frame, and sheet metal in between.

Just gluing it together now....i'm fighting the line between race car and street car....I like race car because its faster and easier, and I by no means want this to be a nerdy show car. But I think its looking pretty cool.

no doubt you have skills in the shop and alot of know how.

Just wondering why so much time and effort for a volvo? Do you have a real love for them in particular?

thanks
