Good luck on this daunting task! There is another somewhat new member that rebuilt a wrecked 2IS recently! He had access to lots of (junkyard) parts for it (from what i read/understood), forgot his name here but will look for it, I feel you could gain something from talking with him.
EDIT: Check out HIS rebuild... https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...r-rebuilt.html

Thanks Micaiah, the way it is looking I wont be keeping the car
Cannot get the power steering rack to engage, could be a bad rack, computer or I dont even know anymore, me and my father have gotten so far but stuck.. These computers these days are so sophisticated its insane... Even if I do get the power steering to work, than I have the two airbags to worry about, thats $1800 FROM DEALER, than I need a new nav. unit, I have the screen, and disc changer just the face is missing
got screwed pretty bad, but what am I going to do...

Just remember...if you don't build it up, someone else will. Wouldn't it be nicer to say that YOU did it? Keep it within budget though, and it will be something to be proud of.
It's frustrating but will be even more rewarding if you can overcome this.

My suggestion: Part the car out before you get any more into it. Since your dad is a tech, rip every single piece of plastic, component off the car.
The car was considered totaled meaning fixing the car is over the retail value of the vehicle.
Goodluck to you. I have sent you a PM.
