I heard that Spec uses an OEM pressure plate that they just paint and put their logo on.
Is this true?
I know for certain that the Spec performance stage 2, 3, and 4 in my other car have pressure plates that are equivalent to that of OEM. I was just curious if it was the same for the SC's

tax return came in and im ready to order parts.
so ive been trying to figure this out for the last few days ive been trying to figure this out with no luck
plan is a 1jz head on a 2jz bottom end.
head will receive 272 BC cams, BC springs and retainers, Bc +1 MM valves, all the normal built head necessity, 1.6mm metal head gasket.
question is will a +1 mm valve cause an issue with the oem 2jz pistons? motor stock is non interference and with the thick head gasket I think it should be fine but I cant find anything for sure.
so i could just say **** valves and screw the port and polish and use that money to get the turbo and other goodies OR i could just get it done and delay the motor more if i need new pistons and rods.
oh also i have a r154 on its way some time to hold the extra power im going to put down.

so the more i think about the valves and port and polish the more i think ill just skip it and get the rest of the engine finished, and ill revisit it next winter when i build the bottom end.

Given the degree of machining and mods that you're already vested in doing, I was puzzled here: you mentioned resurfacing the head and I'm assuming you're milling the surface to the required degree of smoothness (ie. RA spec) for a metal gasket, but are you going to be doing the same for your block? I didn't see where you're milling it for a metal gasket also.

good2go im not really sure yet what im doing as far as a head gasket. im probably going to end up doing a mkiv TT gasket just to be safe.
I bought my exhaust manifold today and ill be going to jegs to buy everything to delete my ABS also. this is going to be awesome!!

so im seriously considering swapping the cars fuel over to E85 because my fuel system except for the tank will be complete fresh. Ill probably need a bigger injector then the ones i was going to get, different fuel lines.
other than availability do you guys see any down fall?
for track days ill need to keep extra fuel in a tank for the car but thats about it.

**** YES!!!!
R154, clutch, flywheel, fork, slave, front drive shaft, basically everything i need except the extended shifter. finally going to be able ot hold power. i wish i took a picture comparing the old trans with this one in terms of beefiness.
also got my valve seals today for my car and then i got a brake proportional valve.
