Thanks -
hardwired means the unit is wired to a continuous 12V someone in the car. This way its on when it turn on the car and off when i turn it off, also doesnt have a wire dangling in the center. tucked into the headliner.
i like/want that. how did you get it set up and installed? who did it for you?

went over to southern lumber today to pick up some

multiply birch wood.
need 1" but the thickest they have was 3/4"

not cheap...

but it is very sturdy and smooth.
This will act as the main structural piece that holds the sub unit together.
with the size and the way it is designed this wood needs to have no gaps in between the layers to prevent any splitting.

hauling it away in the ranger

Heres a shot of some of the stuff that is going in...

Top: Nuforce REF Series Special Edition Amp

MMATS Amplifier
Monolithic Amp on the Wood piece that was being tested.

And i am currently designing and building the Nuforce Mobile Media System (lower black piece) which will act as the brains for the media center.

I also have some AVI Precision Loudspeaker components awaiting testing.

One of our "paper coned" subs came in (fully functional) but still cosmetically unfinished.
here's an comparison of size next to a girl.

To build the enclosure, we used the multi-ply birch wood that we got and started cutting it. it was grooved to fit the back of the trunk specific. lots of measuring and cutting.

close up of the wood

no hack job here!
pieces are specifically cut to certain angles to fit the trunk at a specific angle. when we put it it (without screwing down), everythign fits together like lego.

Even small brace pieces will be individual wrapped with dynlaliner before going in on top of complete dynmatting the trunk.

after pieces are installed and screwed, acoustic foam will be injected into the grooves to create a complete seal.

Nice build. Wish I knew more about stereos but I'm going to tackle my own project in the spring anyways.
