Remove water spots from sun roof?
These seemed to have baked in for quite a while (from previous owner). What is the best and safest way to remove these from the plastic surface?

Is it plastic or glass? I would treat it like paint. Start with clay bar and see what results you get. If you need to use a compound then a polish you can even wax it for the finish. I hope this helps.

Try mixing vinegar and water, rubbing alcohol and water, grease fighting dish soap and water and rub a little harder, it is glass, not plastic.
If that does not work you will likely need to try a clay bar or polish them out. Usually on glass they are not as stubborn as they are on paint/clear.

I meant try them one by one and see if any works, I guess you could combine them too, I have done that to wash off polishing oils before adding a sealant but it was a pretty low concentration.

Be careful when using newspaper, the dye from the ink will stain the surrounding surfaces.

All of these remedies might work depending on the severity of the spots, but if you want a sure thing, use a product designed to do the job:
Meguiar’s makes a polishing compound that you can apply by hand or with a dual action polisher, like I use. Either way yields great results and your glass will look amazing.
I have found in my recent years that there’s nothing like having the right products and tools. Invest in a polisher if you don’t have one, but if that’s too expensive just get the compound and apply it with an applicator pad.

You should try vinegear water combo to get it right off, but otherwise it didn't work you have to use the service paint protection film to the signs of water sports on your car and safe it in future as well.
