gold lettering - how to clean?
I've got an RX 300 with the gold package lettering that is showing some oxidation/discoloration of the lettering after a winter of snow/salt/sand. When I try to clean it, the gold seems to rub off - I've tried metal polish, never dull, windex and all are no good. Anybody with bright ideas how to get oxidation stains off gold metal without rubbing off the gold trim? Thanks in advance.

I'm guessing that it's not oxydation. Sounds like the gold is coming off and you're probably looking at replcement. If it's real gold, it doesn't oxydize, but it's applied very thinly.
I've seen gold badge kits on eBay go for $50 or less.
Good luck.

Thanks for the info...
I checked ebay and they have packages for LX 470 - guess I'll keep my head up for RX 300 packages. Seems a waste to have to completely replace the gold package - supposedly they come with a thin clear coat protectant but I have a 2002 and it would seem the "protectant" is not very functional. Sure would be nice to be able to wipe it clean - anybody know a good electroplater?! Thanks again.

If you replace/replate these, try to seal them with an acrylic/polymer sealant like Zaino, Klasse, Liquid Glass, Meguiar's #20 or Poorboy's EX. Refrain from using cleaners, abrasives or abrasive cloths to clean them.
They probably do have a clear coat protectant, so you must treat them as a painted surface...meaning no metal polish, Nevr-Dull or Windex.
If you want info on replacing them, just search CL on the term, "Debadging".
Good luck.
