While I am a firm believer in the practice of properly polishing a vehicle, it is worth noting that the protective products do posses some visual qualities of their own.

The glass/silica coatings are the most noticeable to me... the shine is a very hard/candy shell type of look that is to be expected by the thin layer of glass that was just applied to the paint. It is definitely a different look than a carnauba wax.

But again, it is all negligible if the vehicle is not properly polished in the first place.
