Well, most places you go to that charge the typical 100-150 for a machine polish will look amazing leaving the shop, so the customer is happy. It's when all that glaze and filler sht wears off in a couple of weeks that the holograms and machine added swirls and micro-marring really start to show and come through. Not to mention how much paint some idiots remove using the common aggressive methods most productions shops use, aka wool pad on a rotary spinning at 1800+rpm. You'd be luck if they didn't cause any permanent damage like a burn through.

This is why most people think these shops do amazing work, because the car looks pretty amazing initially until they are faced with the aftermath.
