Default Tire marks on rear seat

Ever since I purchased my IS I had these marks on the rear seat.

When the previous owner delivered the car he put 2 winter tires on the back seat but he didn't protect the seat well before leaving a nice sumitomo mark across the middle part of the rear seat.

Tried many things to remove the mark but nothing has work to clean it all off. Haven't tried magic eraser yet but I had a bad experience using it on my boat seats damaging the top coat and I'm not too sure I want to try it on my car.

Any suggestions, from experience or not that could take these off without damaging the leather?

Have you tried a good leather cleaner like Zaino? Im always amazed that my seats dont look dirty but when i clean them the towel picks up a decent amount of dirt. I also use the Z10 product after i use the Z9 cleaner.

I would have been mad if i was buying a car and the previous owner did that - and on the light colored leather too.

I've had magic eraser work wonders pretty much everywhere but honestly haven't tried it on leather. I would think with any decent cleaner and a mild/harsh brush that should come out. I don't see cloth really getting that out without some expensive cleaner to break up whatever that is in the leather.

Just don't use hairspray. Used to be everyone thought that was a great product to use but it can damage your leather, or so I'm told. It was a great solution supposedly to get ink (or similar) type stuff out of leather.

Good luck!

Use a brush with soft bristles and a good leather cleaner like mentioned above. It should work but it may take a few applications and elbow grease. Good luck!

Toothbrush should be good for this. Strong enough to get stuff out and soft enough not to cause any damage.

I personally recommend Ultima Interior Shampoo Gel with a leather brush.

Here is a very thorough review on it:

My personal use of Ultima on my father's '04 SC430 who probably has never had the interior properly cleaned.

Any discolourization on the left was because the leather is worn and has been abused by years of dirt and body oils, causing the leather dye to be removed. :\

Default Caution

Be careful with any brushes you may use. You don't want to damage the protective layer that's on top of the leather.
