Default My GS Paint Correction & Detail

This was a fun one at least for me to do. Paint had almost NO protection on it what so ever. Being all single stage paint except for the front bumper, fenders and hood (More on that later) The sun was really taking a toll on the paint. There was moderate oxidation on the roof, trunk and rear spoiler. The car was covered in some of the most concentrated swirls i have every seen, as well as alot of deeper RIDS. I was able to achieve about 90% correction with only a two step system.

Took some initial pictures later in the evening at about 5:00PM as the sun was starting to set.

Even in the dimming sunlight you can see just how badly this car was swirled from over 12 years of improper was techniques!

Pulled the car up to start it's transformation.

Started with the rims and tires.

Optimum PC 3:1 used on tires
Sonax on Rims

Sprayed on and left to dwell. Then followed by me with various brushes.

Car was the foamed using CG Citrus Wash with a few ounces of APC added.

Washed using the two bucket method, partially dried then pulled inside for the REAL fun.

Clay barred then followed by two IPA wipedowns.

Contaminants from just the hood.

Front Right Fender after 2 IPA wipedown's.

Meg's MF cutting discs with D300 used as initial step. Followed by 106FA on DD Uber Green pads.

Front fender saw the most drastic improvements.

50/50 Front Fender

Front bumper, fenders and hood were all resprayed and were CC. Rest of the car was single stage weird for a 99?

Me working it on the hood.

50/50 Passenger Door

With the Fenix

Finished the car with the same combo. Menzerna Powerlock was then applied as the LSP.

Rims sealed with Rejex and tires dressed with CG VRP.

Pulled the car outside for some final sun shots.

I wish i would have taken some more after shots. I was running behind schedule.

Thanks for looking! I appreciate any advice, comments and feedback.

If your in the SoCal area and are in need of a detail or paint correction. Please contact me!

You did a great job and Lexus paint really seems to like the microfiber system.

Nice job

Megs mf system is supposedly designed for factory paint. Any problems on the resprayed areas?

btw, lexus uses tinted clears on black which is why you got black transfer on your pads.

I have to say, that is really good work. Taking the time as well with the 50/50 pics.

How long did it take you for the entire detail ?

Next step is learning a 2 stage buff, and then 3 stage and 4 stage and sure enough you would be able to make money selling to all sorts of customers. Since everyone basically needs something different. Giving you a wide variety to hold business.

Keep up the great work.

Thanks everyone for the compliments! I really appreciate all the kind words.

As for polishes used.... Meguiars MF cutting discs with D300 for the initial step. Then Menzerna 106FA with a Green Detailers Domain Uber Pad for the follow up to really jewel the finish.

Awesome work TL... Thanks again for all the PM's and questions answered. I spoke to Greg at DI and he mentioned the Suburb pad with the 105 for my next step on the GS...

Looking really good...
