Default Refinish chrome exhaust tip?

I want to bring it back to "like new" condition. Its got tiny rock chips and what not. Is there a presedure like wet sanding then polish it up with something?

steel wool 0000 with some dawn soap, then use some metal polish.

I actually used Turtle Wax chrome polish it was very very cheap $3 lol and it made my slighty rusted look/black smokey dirty exhaust tips much much better a small rag and about 3 mins of rubbing it in on each exhaust and your good. I will probably look for another type of polish to finish it off next week

If the condition of the tips is as bad as he says, 0000 wouldn't do much.

To correct the tips from heavier scratches I would do 00 steel wool and follow up with milder wool up to 0000 and use regular metal polish afterwards.

You should also degrease the tips first to get rid of any contamination and speed up the process so that you are polishing a clean surface.

Good luck.

By the way, wet sanding works fine too, but don't go anything below 800 grit or you will have a field day getting those deeper scratches out that are caused by 400 grit or lower. Steel wool is much faster though and more effective.
