Default Which is the better DA

I really wanted the Meguiars DA G110v2 but its on back order. The other option is the Porter Cable 7427 XP. Just wanted to know wich one is the best bet. I already ordered the Meguiars Microfiber Correction system 6" that they just released. Now if i get the porter cable will the Meguiars pads fit on the porter cable? Or should i wait until the G110v2 come available?

Have you done any research on the Griot's DA? Might be worth a look.

Yea thats true, I guess the one from Meguiar's would be good then.

But someone with more experience will give a more 'realistic' answer.

The GG's DA has more power than than the Meg and PC. So it has more correcting ability. Meg's 6" Microfiber Correction system can be used on all of the DA's (Flex, PC, Meg, and GG). From my understanding though, you should have bought the 5". The 5" would have better performance on corrections.

That's far from affordable. I have one of those and it. It's quite nice if you can make your own 4" backing plate for it and use it with 4" pads. Otherwise you got a machine that is limited to 5-6.5" pads which could be a problem.

Flex has a smaller backing plate now.

The 6 would still work...just not ideal. Check out the forums on autogeekonline.net. Plenty of information for you.

The consensus is that the GG is a superior machine compared to the PC and Meg. Plus the Griot's has a lifetime warranty. More power + lifetime warranty =

+1 on the griots

I don't plan on correcting a lot of cars, just mine, some friends and my families, and no more than once a season. Might use it to put on waxes and such but the DA won't see much use so the 1 year warranty from Porter Cable won't help me much. They are pretty durable so no worries if this is what you own. The lifetime warranty and more power are what sold me on the GG though.

B, it is true that the consensus at AG is the 5.5" pads of any type on a DA correct better than 6.5 inch pads, since you've already got the 6.5" Meg's DA system, I'd go with the GG DA since it has more power than the PCXP. The main reason ppl go with the 5.5 as opposed to the 6.5 is b/c the larger the pad the slower it rotates and the more power you need to keep it rotating. DA's have a free floating assembly so if you apply too much pressure or don't keep the pad flat, you can stop it from rotating. It will be harder to stop the GG from rotating than the PC.

I would stay away from the Flex if you are using the Meg's MF system. It is a forced rotation DA so it is impossible to stop it from rotating but it does not play well with the MF pads which were designed specifically for DA's. Alot of the pros on AG advise against using the MF system with the Flex for a number of reasons which I won't get into here.

Hope this helps

I know that. That is why i said you can use 5"-6-1/2" pads.

The new BP is 4-3/8" allowing you to use 5" or the popular 5.5" pads. Before you didn't have that option because the OE original Flex BP is 5.5"...so using a 5.5" pad would've only been possible with zero room for error. Now it is possible.

However, that only solves part of the problem. You cannot use 4" spot pads with the new mini backing plate. It's just not safe to have a backing plate that is bigger then the pad you are using and I could see it being a problem in so many different cases.

Both units will work really well. I generally suggest the PC and a 5" kit - DI Packages Porter Cable 7424XP & Meguiar's DA Microfiber Correction Starter Kit 5" Free Bonus.
