Default 2007 Black Subaru WRX

Customer came out from NY to have his wrx taken care of. This had a crazy amount of swirls from the local automatic car wash. Otherwise, overall, wasnt too bad. Typical road grime and dirt from being a daily driver. This took a little longer than I had originally planned, but the end results made it worth it. It actually wasnt even scheduled as a full correction, but b/c of the softness of suby paint, it came damn close to a full correction job. gotta say though, I absolutely love CG 5050 on black. This is the 4th or 5th black car in a row that I've finished off w/ 5050 and wouldnt have changed it a bit on any one of them. Anyway, some info and pics.........

Looks great. I have a 2006 WRX Wagon in that same color and it has the same swirls as that one, maybe even worse. I did about 3-4 passes on the entire hood and it does not look like I even made a dent in those swirls. How many passes did you have to make on this one?

I was using Optimum Compound and Polish with my UDM. All purchased from GlimmerGlass of course .

Really? I'm surprised. That combo should've taken care of your swirls w/ no problem considering the softness of suby paint. On this, I did about 2 passes w/ Opt Polish on white pad, then 1 w/ poliseal, also on white.
What speed and pad combos were you using?

I was using the orange pad included with your Optimum UDM Kit for the Optimum Compound and the white pad for the Optimum Polish. Both spread on speed 3 and worked on speed 5. Compound was done for 2 passes and the Polish 1-2 on different areas.

Sound like i might be doing something wrong?

hmmm, thats the right combos. any before/after pics? Maybe work them in a little longer? Make sure youre not moving the machine too fast either. You can use speed 6 for OC, but I cant see that having made a significantly measurable difference in your outcome. It may just take a little refining, b/c I'm sure that combo should work. Unless you have a freak suby that has unusually hard paint, but all the ones I've ever worked on were corrected rather easily imo.

Ok. Ill slow down and work each section longer. I am sure this is just my error. I was thinking that I might need a more aggressive compound but it sounds like these will work. I am still learning. Thanks for the advice and information.

wow nice pics chris. I'm ready to bring my car in now. i had the paint drips corrected from the body shop that did my body work after my accident a year ago.

the only problem is that they ****ed up my paint when they washed my car and it's extremely swirly everywhere. they even scratched one of my rims.
