True, but if you're comfortable with a PC and know how to use it properly, a rotary is not as hard as others make it seem. The key is to keep the machine moving, careful of edges/corners, and tape off. I'm sure you'll be fine. Go for it!!!

Go for it! I was detailing dung0981's car yesterday and I brought over both the rotary and PC. I let him try both my machines and he really did a nice job on the rotary as a first-time user! No skipping or paint burn at all. A lot of people are scared of using one because of all the horror stories. As long as you keep on moving the buffer at a certain speed, and not let the product run dry, you'll have no problem.

My PC usually rots in my storage area. I have no use for it when it comes to polishing.

Thank you for your time GSteg. You did a very good job. We need to find somewhere to take some pics.

BTW guys, how much do you guys usually charge for a detailing session (wash, clay, polish, wax)? I normally detail for friends and family only and I usually dont take their money. I really hate it when they ask me how much do I want to charge them. I could never give them a price because I dont know what's a fair amount. The job took 10 hours mainly because the paint had a lot of embedded particles in the paint. Claying took 3 hours alone

Its hard charge 200+ dollars just to clean a car but it can also be a pain to not to charge enough...Equipment, supplies and especially labor can get expensive. Anything under 200 it can becomes non-profitable especially when your giving up your whole weekend on one or two cars..I think a ballpark number around 200 or slightly under 300 is fair..I would rather put up my legs and watch some football from a hard work week but thats just me..

Most car wash places charge 130 for only 3 hours of work! Good work deserves good compensation..

Wouldn't you guys agree?

Looks good rominl. I didn't know you do detailing on the side. What supplies did you use to get such good results..

umm, maybe it's time for me to buy rotary. a lot of times i think i could do better but the PC is just limiting

anyway, i did those with sonus stuff from auto car care, but seriously as long as you get several grades of polish from well known companies, it should work pretty well. follow by a good sealant and then some wax, it goes a long way

for good detailers, i think charging 250 to 300 is reasonable. really good ones usually go by hours, something like 50 bucks an hour. i don't know about other states, but given how cheap some people are here in cali, anything over 200 is "overpriced" by default. when you see people doing "detailing" for 150 bucks, people jump on it. but little do they know the results are laughable

I guess I'm really nice then. I detail for about $60. At least that's what I charge my friends and family. I haven't had the chance to detail anyone else's car, but then again, I do it mostly for fun.
