MERGED THREADS - Cleaning/Caring for microfiber towels
I just got my new car and I've been reading up on these detailing threads. Lots of good information! One question keeps popping into my head though. It seems you can microfiber towels for just about anything, but how do you clean/care for them after use? You don't really throw them away after you done right?

I wash microfiber towels in the washing machine with Tide HE. Any liquid detergent should be fine. Powder detergents contain fillers which may accumulate in the towels so I'd avoid them. I wash and rinse in warm water. I use a little white vinegar in the rinse cycle to keep the towels soft and plush. Works better than a fabric softener and actually enhances their absorbency.
If you have a particularly soiled towel you might soak it in detergent and hot water for a while. The hot water will not damage the towel.
Never wash your microfiber towels with any other material. The microfiber will pick up lint if you do.
I dry my towels in the dryer on warm heat, gentle cycle.

I have about 20 microfiber cloths and use about 10 per car dpending on how filthy the interior/glass/plastic/rubber is.
I use this stuff and it seems to 'restore' them o the next use.

Do try the white vinegar rinse. It makes your towels as soft or softer than they were new.

Makes what worse? I've been washing microfiber towels in a washing machine with Tide liquid laundry detergent for several years with no ill effects. But, maybe I'm missing something. I'm guessing I followed the directions on the label/packaging. I am sure not to dry at a high temperature.
