Default How to Remove Swirls on Plastic Window Frame?

I had the side windows tinted yesterday and it seems the installers used some abrasive material on the plastic window frame. I didn't notice it in the sun light, but I noticed it in the garage under flourescent lighting.

Aside from complaining to the tint company and having them fix it, is there anything I can do to at least reduce the appearance of the swirls?

The window frame seems to be some type of high polished plastic. I'm surprised how easily it received swirls.

Thanks in advance!

I'd try Meguiar's PlastiX

Is PlastX safe for colored plastic, or is it for clear only?

Exterior. I discovered that the window frame is extremely delicate. I went to the tinting company and they use wet paper towels to wipe down the area. We tested it on an unaffected area and sure enough, swirls appeared after gently wiping it.

Seems to be the high polished plastic is abnormally sensitive.

It works great on colored plastic as well. I used it on the same black plastic pillars on my RX330. It removed some fine swirls and left it looking just like new.

FWIW, the plastic is soft so I used a new foam pad with light but vigorous action. Work the PlastX until it breaks down and then gently remove with a soft microfiber.

I have the same problem. I wonder if Aerospace 303 will do the same as ScratchX? I’m in love with this stuff for my interior. I’ll give it a try for the B pilars plastic peaces and will let you know of the outcome. If not, ScratchX it is.

303 is a coating and PlastX is a diminishing abrasive polish. You can't remove marring with a coating. Also, 303 washes off easily so as an external dressing it is not that good. It will leave a runny streak on the pillars as it washes off and dries. Ask me how I know this.

I polished my pillars to remove the swirls and applied a sealant. They look like new and the sealant lasts through many washes.

So is it ScratchX or PlastX that should be used for the high polish plastic pillars?

I'm sorry, too many "X" products. I meant to say PlastX. I'll edit my posts to avoid confusion. Thanks for pointing this error out.

What kind of sealant? I have tried an Acrylic base while I was waxing my car (Jeff’s Werkstatt) but in the sunlight you could see the residue it left after a day.

Only on the plastic pillars tho, the rest of the car was flawless.

I've used both Meg's #21 and NXT with nearly identical results. Currently it's NXT. I suspect Zaino would work equally as well but i haven't tried that yet.

hmm...I received this response from Meguiar's:
Dear Matt

First I would like to thank you for your interest in Meguiar's products
and I hope that your car care experience is an enjoyable one.

Unfortunately no, I would not recommend using the Meguiars PlastX on
your black plastic to remove the scratches and swirls. Meguiars doesn't
really make anything for colored plastic that would be safe to use and
not potentially damage them. I do apologize.

I hope this information has helped you in your car care process. We here
at Meguiar's wish you the best and hope to answer any questions you may
have in the future.
I think it's still worth a shot.
