Chart - Tint Laws For All States
#19
CA law allows 70% and there is no automotive film that will equil 70% when applied to the window. The film always reads 2-8% lower on the window. You could use whats called a UV shield but its only function is to block uv rays and not heat like normal window film. It does block a little heat but nothing worth talking about.

Unless the vehicle code changed since 2003, here is a little info sheet the CHP put together for modding cars:
http://www.chp.ca.gov/html/streetlegal.html
One of the points in there is that tinting the front side windows and windshield is illegal.

You know whats funny guys, I have limo tint on the side windows and rear, and 25% on the windshield, which is all super illegal and I have never in a year been even stopped by a cop. Well suprisingly in my 2 years driving, never gotten a ticket either.
