C&D, Edmunds, MT Test: Lexus IS-F (RS4 vs. IS-F Comparo)
So IMO it's not hypocritical at all rather it's a styling statement that some people believe looks "rice", "goofy", "ugly" while it seems a small percentage (which clearly includes Lexus stylists) thinks it looks good.
How do you know the gap is less on the Veyron, R8, or Lambo? That's being totally unrealistic. Unless we have detailed measurements of the gap on each car, fact is we can't compare accurately.
Whether or not you like the look of the exhaust isn't relevant when ALL the criticism here and on other boards seems to be about the fact that the IS-F has a detached exhaust setup with a gap between the exhaust and the tips.
I personally hate the look of the Veyron exhaust for example, but I'm not going to suddenly bash the exhaust for being detached just because I don't like the look of the exhaust tip.
I bet most people that are criticizing the IS-F exhaust don't even know that the Lambo, R8, and Veyron all have detached exhausts.
To clarify; hating the look of the exhaust tips on the IS-F is one thing. Hating the fact that the tips are detached from the exhaust is a whole other matter.
It's true that launches will be more consistent with AWD, but it's ALSO true that you CAN get good launches with RWD at the hands of an experienced driver.

The real exhausts are fully functional and connected.

Now we should call Edmunds on their misleading statements. It's just like their 600hL review where they falsely compared different 2007 vs. 2008 EPA estimates.
On that one at least one could comment at the end of the review and clarify their errors. There doesn't seem to be a comment section for the IS-F article on InsideLine.
Shouldn't they at least add a correction that what they criticized in their review vis a vis the vents is NOT TRUE when dealing with the actual production model?

I'm sure the aftermarket will come out with some nice looking exhaust systems though.

. Oh, just wait after the IS-F release and you see the first complaint or TSB...man..oh..man..you will see those members will be back on the bandwagon.Oh, from what I've heard the new smart key credit card size from the LS600hl can be order and get it program to be use on the new IS-F or some other newer Lexus as well. That's cool.

There will always people fanboys and trolls. I wonder if Lexus will use the offset stacked tips on all their F-models as a signature thing. Kinda like BMW has the M fender vents, the Audi S/RS chrome mirrors, etc.
