I bought the JoeZ after reading up what others have said and tested in terms of the various intakes in the forum. It seemed that the JoeZ was the only one that actually offered any real gains. If I recall correctly, 4-6hp. Some of the other intakes actually robbed power.

The way I see it, Lexus engineered the factory airbox to obtain the coolest air possible. For noise reasons, they muffled the OEM intake tube, which in turn resulted in few hp loss. By using the JoeZ with the factory air box, cooler air should be taken in while the JoeZ does not restrict the air flow. The JoeZ is definately not as loud as the other intakes.

The other makes have one major problem, heat soak. They are not insulated from the engine heat as the factory air box is. That is why they suffer from power loss or no real gains.

well actually many people have shown gains with other intakes.. there have been a few that show power loss.. but it seems bogus

not true... I raced a guy that just had an intake on his 350 (not joez) and I beat him pretty good @ the drag strip. He lost noticable acceleration off the line. IMO, I don't know if any of them are worth the money in gains...

The look of the IS F line intake looks good, now whether or not it is better than after markets hp wise is another story

My vote is to buy it for sure! I give it a major .
Had the LMS on my car for a month or so and found it was actually "lagging" my engine because of the hot air it was pulling in. The JOEZ uses the stock airbox, which is already specially designed for our cars from factory.Joez is well made, and guaranteed to feel a diff in throttle response.

Why waist your $$$ on that F intake, just take your stock air box and cut out the same hole. Then install a drop in filter, remove that stupid charcoal filter, and get the JoeZ intake tube and walk away from it.

That extra hole is in a really dumb place anyway, are you going to get cold air from the back of the headlamp assembly? Probably not, it would help things out a little by having more air come in but you will only notice anything on a dyno for performance numbers.

And if anyone is wondering, I took out the charcoal filter on my car the day after I got it and I haven’t had any problems.

My thoughts exactly! This makes sense not only for $$, but for performance.

That's pretty funny. Caymandive took out the charcoal filter and consistently lost 1 hp. So much for airflow being intuitive.

Unbelievably true. Just to make sure it wasn't a fluke that day I swapped the charcoal filter in and out twice and got the same results of 1hp as lobux said.

Oh and on my last dyno session this past week I was curious and pulled the intake filter completely leaving the charcoal filter in place. Guess what? Yup I consistently lost power again by about 2hp. The stock setup with JoeZ pipe just works best. No need for drop in filters and no needing to pull the emissions charcoal filter from the airbox lid.
