Default Easily removable receiver hitch

I bought a Curt Manufacturing 11238 hitch for my GS300. If you go to their website you will see that it only comes in 1 1/4". I wanted to make the receiver removable so that it would not be visible when not hauling my bikes or trailer and I had it made a 2" at the same time. Remove 4 bolts and the receiver comes off the main bar. See pics. Weighs 36 pounds in shipping carton. $125.00

I can offer 125 shipped if nobody bites.

This is not meant to be insulting, just an honest offer.

it is insulting though..i buy/sell enough on here and elsewhere that i can tell you honestly nowadays when you sell something people expect free shipping and the bottom line is its not. someone, somewhere, somehow pays for it...

you either mark the prices up some and offer free shipping or you make little to nothing on it and sell it at a decent price with free shipping just to move it

keep in mind this is atleast a 40lb box once packed, shipping from IL to CA its gonna cost like 20 bucks or so

Here's the deal if you are interested. I much prefer the 2 inch receiver as well. Does your tow bar come with the corresponding tongue as well?

CURT want US$170 to ship to my home address in Australia. I will immediately transfer US$295 (i.e. $125 + $170) into your Paypal account if you are prepared to ship to Australia. If you can get a better shipping cost, then you keep the difference.

Otherwise I will do what you did, and ask CURT to make me a special with the removable 2" hitch and tongue.

Interested? Please PM.

Cheers, David

David, I thought maybe it might work. I went to UPS store 2 blocks from my house with dimensions of carton 45x21x12 and a weight of 38 pounds just to be safe. I don't know where in Australia you live, so I used Melbourne airport. 625.00 US shipping!!!!!!! Came home and used Google, came up with same number. Guy tells me business corporations have lower rates but I found this outrageous.

Really appreciate you taking the time to check this out. They must be quoting airfreight I guess for the price to be so high.

Tell me - did CURT do the modifications to the 2" hitch, or did you have someone else modify the hitch after you purchased it? Do you remember how much extra they charged?

Cheers, Dave

Beautiful job. Wish I could get it to Australia for under US200 shipping.

As they say over here ... BUGGER!

Cheers, and good luck with the sale.
