Default NTB: #3 Camshaft Bearing Cap

I need a #3 Camshaft Bearing Cap for a 99 GS300. I broke mine when I was changing the timing belt. Because it is broken, the Oil Contorl Valve cannot regulate the oil pressure correctly and gives the car a VERY high idle (2200RPM).

If someone can help me out with it would be so great.

This part is not sold seperate by the dealer.

I think your problem is bigger than you think. you can not just change one cap they are line bored to match. If you change the cap you would have to have the cam jurnals bored to be straight. How did you brake a cam cap changing the timing belt?

It's the big one that holds the oil control valve. We broke it when we were changing the camshaft oil seals. What exactly do you mean by this...

"If you change the cap you would have to have the cam jurnals bored to be straight"

This thing has 4 bolts, line up the bolts and bolt it in. What has to be bored straight?

If it is like any other head when it is built the caps are placed on, and the jurnals are line bored to the proper size. All heads are done the same way but the caps are not interchangable. if you change cams the caps must go back in the same order. You wight be ok because it is on the end of the cam, but I can't promis anything. I hope that makes sense.

Ben,
This cap is a little bit different. It holds the cam shaft seal in place. Sidney, your best bet will be the junk yard. How did you break it though? If you break the unit oil will be all over the place.

When we were taking it off, we forgot to take off the 2 5mm hex head bolts in the back. And then popped it off and it broke right where the bolts were.

So JPI, this piece can be replaced with no problems as specified by Ben?

Sidney,
Take some pictures and refresh my memory. I thought you mean the cam seal cap. Anything beside that you are pretty much have to buy an entire set of caps and possible a head. These are machined to fit individual cam spec.

Yeah, that's the one. The one that holds the seal and holds the Oil Control Valve.
