Question Slight moisture in GS headlights.

Yea I have a little moisture in the front headlights... Can i fix that or do I have to buy new lights?
They seem to clear when the bulb has heated up in the lens.. Thanks again tmf

Nope.. That's a common problem on some GS headlamps.

Yes. The front bumper needs to come off, though.

Is it too late to "complain" to the dealer? You just got the car.

I would take it to the dealer and complain. I dont know if they have to complain but maybe if you make enough noise they will replace them for you. I have heard of someone resealing them themselves but dont know if it worked

yes , i have resealed mine twice in 2 yrs and they work fine..it would have worked once but as you know gs300rich we had a pretty cold winter for florida standards this year..

the cold to hot cycling seems to have a effect on the rubber seals

all i did was buy some clear bathroom silicone adhesive .. cut the tip at a angle but a tiny hole..the gentlty pull back the rubber just enough so you can squeeze the silicone in , make sure to have a damp pices of paper towel to smooth out the overage and just do it all the top and as much of the sides as possible.. down towards the bottom the seal does not leak for the bumper sits right on it but i do still spread a thin bead around the perimer and use the damper towel to smooth it and clean up overage..

i just redid it 2 weeks ago and no leaks again

If i have to take off the bumper I'd rather not fool with it. The lights are not really that bad. I think I'm being annal about it. It was just alot of moisture because it rained alot yesterday when i got the car. I saw some headlights on ebay so i guess all years would fit mine? thanks

it will get worse shortly, once the seals start to allow some moisture , other parts of the seal will start to come apart , its actually better to do alittle silicone care right now while the rest of the seals integreity is in tact

Well with the hood opened yesterday i inspected the seals and they look pretty good. Knowing myself if i start messing around I'll screw it up somehow... I assume some moisture is getting in there somehow though.... Thanks

Thanks for the info, I will have to try it. I know the silicone is clear but does it show up at all? Also if there was some spilled over on the lens that I didnt notice would I be able to remove it easily if it was dried? I think I am going to try this on my side markers once the new ones come in, to see if I can seal them better

Congrats on your new purchase. Does your extended warranty covers the headlight moisture issue?

I don't get why Lexus has such a problem with the moisture in the headlights. My buddy has a 2002 nissan frontier with kinda similar headlights - clear lens covering chrome - and those lights don't have the first problem like this. They pretty much look brand new after three years ... and zero moisture.

I don't care for nissan either, just saying that it can be done
