New Lexus LFA Reportedly Coming in 2025! (Fridays are for F Presented by Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus)
Sources suggest a new Lexus LFA might be returning; but the updated car is expected to lose its definitive V10.
Lexus news this week got the rumor mill churning overtime. However, this story–backed by a solid lead–may have given us some solid details on the much anticipated return of the Lexus LFA. And the news is huge: An all-new Lexus LFA is reportedly going be released in 2025. Japanese magazine Best Car recently published an article with details on the return of a supercar legend. In its short run from 2010 to 2012, the LFA rightfully grew into legendary status.
Exemplifying the apex of performance, the LFA hit hard with enthusiasts. Unexpected and unbelievable, the LFA represented a defining moment for Lexus–especially in boosting its F Performance line. Many components came together to make the LFA a truly special, evocative experience. But it was the custom built V10 under the hood that made the Lexus LFA a bright, incendiary presence.
Dripping with carbon fiber and a thrilling engine, the LFA is an exciting car. It all comes together as something significant, rare, intimidating. Lexus built a sexy, sumptuous supercar with a high-revving V10 that put it head to head with the top European luxury and exotics.
Without question, the 4.8-liter V10 definitely is the heart of the LFA. With 552 horsepower at 8,700 rpm and 354 pound-feet of torque at 6,800 rpm, it is an engine that Lexus spent time tuning and building custom with Yamaha. Its immense potency and screaming exhaust note turns knees to jelly.
So is the legend return in 2025? We’ve heard a lot of rumors through the years, but this one does seem to have more traction. And while a new version of the LFA is cause for celebration … here’s the rub. Sources claim that the new LFA is expected to be a different kind of beast. As such, the new Lexus LFA 2.0 would forgo the 4.8-liter V10; and the next-gen LFA would be a hybrid.
Should these rumors be true, then the 2025 Lexus LFA would employ a 937 hp 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with plug-in hybrid. This appears similar–if not the same–to the twin-turbo we’ve anticipated for the upcoming IS F. And that is a lot of power.
Additionally, the LFA layout would be upgraded to allow the engine to sit ahead of the drive but behind the front axle. With this better weight distribution, weight reduction from the carbon fiber, and that major power; we’re not counting the new Lexus LFA out.
Yes, we are stubborn. Just seeing an LFA open up and reign hell, it is very difficult not to whine “more!” In light of recent trends in electrification, Lexus just cannot afford to drag their feet. Business wise, this all makes excellent sense. It will allow the company to put out a supercar/hypercar that can utilize some of the best innovations.
If Lexus can deliver a bombshell LFA that has the chops to rival some of the new EV hypercars? It might be a compromise to get the LFA’s exemplary responsiveness, steering, confidence, breaking…and one sweet lush interior.
In the last few weeks we have seen the best of aftermarket at SEMA. Automakers, builders, engineers, mechanics, and other areas in vehicles showed its ability to adapt to EV technologies. But will drivers guy?
