LX and RX Contend for Motor Trend’s SUV of the Year
Well, do you want the good news or the bad news first?
Let’s start with the good: Lexus had not one, but two Contenders in Motor Trend‘s venerable 2017 SUV of the Year competition, one of the major awards to be handed out later this month at the “Motor Trend Awards” ceremony.
Both the Lexus LX and the Lexus RX were honored with a selection. Other Contenders included Toyota’s Rav4, Highlander SE, and Land Cruiser models.
The bad news is that neither of the two Lexus SUVs, or the three Toyotas for that matter, were included as Finalists for the award. That honor falls to the Audi Q7, GMC Acadia All-Terrain, Jaguar F-Pace, Mazda CX-9, Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class, and the Tesla Model X.
Would you rather have any of those SUVs than your Lexus? Considering where you’re reading this, probably not.
Certainly awards matter, but I don’t think any of the LX and RX owners out there are going to get too upset about losing out on this on. Although the undecided voters out there may be unduly influenced. For those folks though, I invite you check out this recent story about Lexus winning another Consumer Reports customer satisfaction award.
