Lexus Triple Threat Set for 2020 Geneva Auto Show Debut
UX 300e leads the charge as Lexus’ first battery-electric car, joined by reveals of the LC 500 convertible and LF-30 EV concept.
The first thirty years of Lexus have been wonderful for fans of Japanese luxury and performance. What started with a pair of sedans has grown to include a healthy selection of sedans, SUVs, hybrids, and a few high-performance machines.
Just a year after launching in the United States, Toyota brought Lexus to the European market, doing the same there as it did here: enter into the relentless pursuit of perfection. The pursuit continues in 2020, with the European debuts of two production-ready and one concept vehicle at the 2020 Geneva Auto Show, set for March 3 through 15 in Geneva, Switzerland.
The first among the Lexus Geneva three-pack is the LF-30 Electrified Concept. As more manufacturers enter the electrification game, Lexus is showing what it sees for such a future with its concept, which it calls “Lexus Electrified.” The concept combines futuristic design cues with a “human-centered” cockpit and four in-wheel motors moving the battery-electric vehicle, not to mention the tons of technology on board, including augmented reality.
Of course, every journey has a beginning, and the path to the LF-30 and beyond begins with Lexus’ first-ever BEV, the UX 300e. The first “Lexus Electrified” model leaves the UX’s 2.0-liter inline-four behind for a full-electric setup good for around 250 miles of range between charges. Aerodynamics, temperature management, and charging management make the crossover perfect for those ready to make the jump to electrification, but don’t want to leave Lexus behind.
On the internal combustion side, the final car to make its European debut is the LC 500 Convertible, set to hit U.S. showrooms this summer. Sunchasers heading off to Monaco, Saint-Tropez, or Zrce Beach will love the four-layer soft top for the rainy days, but will love putting it down more thanks to its automatic folding mechanism. Otherwise, it’s still the same LC 500 packing a 5.0-liter V8 with a 10-speed automatic, sure to offer tons of driving pleasure.
The Lexus trio will make their European debut in Geneva during the show’s press days, March 3 and 4, on the floor of Palexpo, before the general public arrives March 5.
