Joining the Fray

If you haven't already noticed, off-road focused Lexus SUVs are hot right now. Lexus themselves have built a couple of full-size overlanders, showing off these killer looking machines at various auto shows in North America. And now, Super Street is joining the fray with their very own UX200 F Sport project car.

Target Audience

It might seem strange for Super Street, a rag known for building/featuring low-slung street machines, to build an off-road-focused crossover. But they found the entry-level Lexus to be an intriguing option for young folks. And that plays right into their target audience.

Rise Up

But even though this UX looks like it's received a major overhaul, the process it took to get here wasn't terribly complicated. It all started with a little suspension work. To accomplish, that, all SS had to do was install H&R's Adventure Raising springs, which work in tandem with the OEM struts. This resulted in a lift of 1" up front and 1.2-inches in the rear.

Filling the Gap

Next, SS took advantage of that additional space by ordering up some new, more aggressive wheels and tires. They found them in a set of RAYS Japan Team Daytona M9 bead locks that were actually designed for Jeeps and SUVs. Locating tires that would fit proved to be a bigger challenge, but SS eventually settled on a set of 225/65R17 Yokohama Geolandar M/T G003 rubber.

Fabrication Needed

The next step, of course, was to accessorize this little crossover. Unfortunately, the UX just doesn't enjoy much aftermarket support at the moment. Thus, SS had to turn to a local off-road specialist called Armordillo for some one-off parts. They then fabricated a pair of roof racks for the rig, then modified an AR Series bull bar with an integrated skid plate to fit.

Finishing Touches

To cap off the build, they then added an integrated light bar to the bull bar and threw a slew of Pelican cases up top to hold a bunch of precious cargo. And the result of all that work is one of the coolest UXs we've seen to date.

Difficult Build

Modifying a brand new model isn't easy, especially when it's one that doesn't enjoy much aftermarket support. But Super Street's UX certainly proves that this little luxury machine deserves more. And we wouldn't be surprised if more young folks see the crossover's potential and start to gravitate toward this excellent platform in the future.
