Lexus takes third place. Team finishes in top ten in Motorola Cup Race at Sebring.
BALTIMORE, Maryland – The #9 Team Lexus GS 400 battled to third place in the Motorola Cup Streetstock Championship race on Sunday. |
The three hour endurance race ended the festivities at the 48th annual 12 Hours at Sebring weekend. The Motorola Cup series boasted its largest field ever as 62 cars took the green flag. The #9 Lexus GS 400 driven by Chuck Goldsborough of Baltimore, MD and Chris Gleason of Johnstown, PA started the race in the eighth spot of the sport/touring class.
The pair fought their way to second place during an event hampered by brief rain showers and the usual carnage associated with racing on Sebring’s 3.7 mile road course. Goldsborough eventually finished third giving Team Lexus its second podium finish in as many races. “The car was very hard to drive in the later stages of the race”, said Goldborough. “If the #9 hadn’t been so heavily damaged by the last half hour or so, we could have been up there fighting for the lead.” Team Lexus is sponsored by Lexus (a division of Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A.), Mike Higham’s Lexus of Annapolis, Coale Truck Transport, ProTrac suspensions, Motormat, JLG Leasing, Level 10, Bertil Roos Racing School, Hypercoils, Spirit Graphics, Phil’s Bar, Red Line Products, R&R Autobody, Alpine Bagels and Brews, the Gleason Group, Data Clean, U1st and Simpson.
