Lexus LS Interior Proves Extra Drool-Worthy (Photos)
It’s going to be hard to focus on the road with an interior this gorgeous.
Lexus has always been known for making beautiful, luxurious, and technology laden interiors. But lately, they’ve been stepping things up a notch. You only need to take one look at the 2018 Lexus LS interior to realize that. But on the other hand, you’ll want to take much more than one look at this automotive work of art.
The new LS interior made an immediate impact on everyone who saw its debut at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show. Not just spectators, either. The elegant and artistic design landed the LS a 2017 EyesOn Design Award for Design Excellence – Interior Design at the show. It was easily one of the more obvious choices for such a prize in a long time.
The overall Lexus LS interior design is said to be inspired by Japanese aesthetics and craftsmanship traditions. But a focus on what Lexus calls “progressive comfort” and an eye on modern design give it a anything but an old school feel. From the moment you open the door to get inside, the automaker wants you to feel the Omotenashi, or Japanese hospitality.
Aside from basic design, you’ll find legendary Lexus Takumi craftsmanship as well. Everything just looks and feels special, because it is. The level of detail is, quite simply, amazing. Even for a car at this price point. This is evident in the use of a brand new pleating treatment and stunning hand carved Kiriko glasswork on the inner door panels.
The use of new and sophisticated technologies brings with it new interior finish options as well – Art Wood/Organic, Art Wood/Herringbone and Laser Cut Special. The hand-pleated door trims were inspired by origami, the door panels originally rendered in paper. It’s clear that Lexus put an incredible amount of effort and time into making the new LS interior something special. And they clearly succeeded.
