Lexus LFA Nürburgring Edition Nabs Nearly $1M at Auction
Rare, one-of-50, one-owner, 885-mile Lexus helps reset Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale record.
There’s no denying that the Lexus LFA is a legendary supercar by anyone’s standards. With screaming V10 power and more engineering genius than you can shake a stick at. And unlike many other supercars, the LFA has also aged quite nicely. Thus, these pinnacles of Lexus performance are also holding (and in some cases gaining) their value. Especially when you’re talking about the LFA Nürburgring Edition.
Lexus built only 50 of these ultimate LFAs, which celebrated the car’s (at that time) record-breaking 7:14.64 lap time at the famed German track. So if you’re looking to bring one of these rare rides home, you better bring your black card. Because this particular 885-mile example just hammered for a cool $918,500 at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale.
That astounding figure was good enough to net this Lexus the third-highest regular lot sales price at the auction. Behind only the very first production McLaren Senna ($1,457,000) and a one-of-100 Mercedes G63 6×6 ($1,210,000). A handful of cars sold for charity netted over $2 million. All together, Barrett-Jackson raked in $131.6 million in vehicle and memorabilia sales, making the it highest grossing Scottsdale auction in the company’s illustrious history.
So will this sky-high sales price be the new norm for future LFA Nürburgring transactions? Well, it’s hard to say. This particular example is easily one of the best in existence, with ultra-low miles and one previous owner since new. It’s black-on-black, which is a fabulous color combination. And it was sold with every single piece of documentation you could ever want, from meticulous maintenance records to racing gloves and jacket.
Still, we wouldn’t be surprised to see these numbers climb in the future. After all, there are only so many LFAs out there in the world. And more importantly, no one will ever likely build a car like this one again.
