Remember Me?

It's sometimes easy to forget that just a little over 8 years ago, Lexus, a company known for making the best of the best luxury sedans, made a 550hp supercar. Just like how the LS400 was made to prove to the rest of the world that Lexus could make top tier luxury sedans, the LFA was developed to prove they could make a supercar as good as anything from Italy.

Still Available

Even though Lexus stopped producing the LFA in 2012, reports have found that there are still 8 LFA's sitting on dealer lots that have never been sold. Even though they are old cars, they have never been registered and thus are technically brand new. The terms "LFA" and "Affordable" were probably never even printed together in the same magazine together, but if you and 40 of your friends all throw some cash you can buy one, and you should! To show you why we first have to remember what made the LFA so great.

The heart

While the whole of the LFA was great, the main focus of the car was the 4.8L V10. Developed specifically for the LFA, Toyota relied on its Formula 1 engine building experience and collaborated with Yamaha to build a street reliable engine that could rev to 9k rpm and make 553hp. Yes, I said Yamaha, the same company that makes motorcycles, keyboards, and made the infamous Taurus SHO engines.

Revs for days

Yamaha has a lot of experience with making high revving good flowing cylinder head designs, but they also have that acoustical experience from their musical instruments. Lexus put that experience to good use making sure the LFA sounded as amazing as it looked, with Lexus engineers describing the exhaust note like "The roar of an angel". Reciprocating mass was kept to a minimum and the engine was designed at a 72 degree V to make sure it could change speed easily and quickly. In fact, it was so quick that a digital dash needed to be used to keep up with the changes.

Carbon everything please.

Of course, the engine wasn't the only selling point of the LFA. The bulk of the chassis was built using carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer. The use of this over aluminum parts allowed the chassis to shed over 220lbs, making it lighter than its closest rivals at 3263 lbs. So now you may be starting to remember why this car was awesome, but there are more reasons to buy it than just its performance alone.

Investment Cars

Anyone that tells you they know what cars are going to hold their value or gain value as an investment purchase are idiots. Also, purchasing an LFA would be a great investment! The LFA originally sold for $375k starting. Given that there were only 500 produced there are not many for sale at any given time, but average asking price seems to be about $450k. Great value!

Don't buy, rescue.

The Lexus LFA was built to be driven. Unfortunately, like many high-end supercars, they mostly end up sitting. It is your duty to rescue these cars from sitting on the dealer lots. Don't make us break out the Sarah McLachlan music to guilt you into it

Clarkson loved it.

Maybe you don't care about the money. Maybe you can't be guilted into it. But who wouldn't want to drive the car that Jeremy Clarkson described as "The best car I have ever driven". That is high praise from a man that doesn't like anything that isn't made in Britain.

So what are you waiting for? Hit the streets, fire up google, and track down these last 8 brand new LFA's before they are all gone.
