Lexus Hybrids: Nine is Enough Not Eight
Eight is Enough, but for Lexus, Nine is the key for the future. According to WardsAuto interview with Paul Williamsen, National Manager of Strategic Education Support for Lexus International, Lexus will be offering Nine hybrid models for 2014, one more than what was announced earlier this year in New York.

This news comes about from the recent Designing for Technology Management Briefing Seminar in Traverse City, MI. Lexus currently offers 8 hybrid models worldwide including:
- CT 200h
- HS 250h (Japan Only)
- ES 300h
- IS 300h (Select Europe & Asia Markets)
- GS 300h (Select Europe & Asia Markets)
- GS 450h
- LS 600h
- RX 450h
WardsAuto highlights only 6 hybrid models, but did not mention the HS 250h or the two versions of GS hybrid, although they did comment on the GS 300h powertrain possibly going in the LF-LC luxury hybrid coupe concept which is rumored to be a flagship model. As for the 9th hybrid, we’re guessing the upcoming small sport utility NX 300h or a hybrid version of the upcoming RC 300h coupe will fill in those spots. Or perhaps the HS 250h will disappear and create an opening for both NX and RC hybrids? We’ll have to wait and see.
Willamsen also mentions the involvement of Lexus in motorsports. He mentions the IS F CCS-R run in the 2012 and 2013 Pikes Peak Int’l Hill Climb are good indicators for Lexus involvement in motorsports in the future.
