Though the LC 500 stands above the rest, it isn’t without its own bugs and quirks. Owners in our forums list, find solutions for them.

The LC 500 flies the flag for all Lexus coupes. Whether you keep the top, drop it, or swap the big V8 for a hybrid V6, the coupe stands above the competition through the combination of top-tier luxury and hardcore Toyota reliability. One could even say the LC 500 is the ultimate grand tourer, eating up the road like groceries.

However, the LC 500 isn’t without its bugs and quirks. Recently, owners in our Club Lexus forums began listing them, as well as compiling solutions and workarounds for each of them. Here are the most common among them.

The Trackpad

“The much adored ‘track pad,'” wrote thread starter and Club Lexus senior moderator bitkahuna. “I’ve gotten used to it, and the FIRST thing I did when I got the car was turn off the ‘feedback’ (the car bumping the pad when you touch corners/edges). I didn’t need it, didn’t want it.”

However, as he says, the trackpad won’t back down on the feedback, clicking it back on every other time he starts the LC 500. 355F1 experienced a similar issue, though it disappeared a while ago. Other owners have simply adapted to the Lexus’ chosen way to access infotainment.

The Rear “Seat”

A couple of owners aren’t too fond of the existence of the LC 500’s rear “seat.” One of them, Exhilr8n, says Lexus should just cast it aside for a parcel shelf. However, another owner is able to seat his eight-year-old granddaughter in the back, so long as the front passenger seat is unoccupied. Not the most ideal situation, but at least the lemonade can be enjoyable.

Climate Concierge

“A great feature, unless you want to turn it off,” bitkahuna said. “First off, it should be settable on/off for EACH SEAT as passenger or driver may want or not want it.”

He adds that using the trackpad while the concierge is on doesn’t turn it off, and the solution he’s found is turning off and on the auto climate control. Other owners, though, have no issue with it, including tmilLC500, who sets the heated steering to max “as it makes the car feel alive.”

“The Horn”

When starting and stopping the car, a couple of owners noticed a “horn” sound from the rear of the LC 500. Again, tmilLC500 says he doesn’t notice such a thing at all, only some chirping and grabbing.

Door Handles & Mirrors

“Basically, they’re semi-automatic rather than fully automatic. Acceptable, but odd on a vehicle at this price point,” said redhot47fl. Our moderator adds he gets nervous about pushing in the handle after closing the door, opting to use his key fob instead of his hands to set them back in.

Meanwhile, the mirror-folding mechanism is an odd mess. You have to unfold them with the auto-fold button, which turns the automatic folding on. If you fold them manually, you do so from within the car, which turns off the automatic folding.

Front Sensors

“The front sensors seem to work only with things over a foot and a half tall,” said Exhilr8n. “Really need to have some way to judge curbs or other smaller objects (someone laying there?).”

He adds that the sensor came on suddenly while pulling into a pharmacy’s drive-through. 355F1 adds his LC 500’s front sensors “pick up almost every parking curb in front,” and that you have to drive slow to keep them on.
