First Look! Lexus LFA Successor Is a Silent Stunner

LFA successor

The Lexus LFA successor may not have a name, but it does have a shape and that is the shape of a gorgeous, futuristic road rocket.

The Lexus LFA is a legendary supercar. Although it wasn’t always seen that way. It was so stunning to see a car like this come out of Lexus that people didn’t know what to think of it. In fact, Lexus had a tough time selling them all. But today they are highly sought after and sell for well over the original MSRP. A big reason for the desirability of the LFA is the screaming V10 engine. It will go down as one of the best sounding road cars of all-time. But time marches on and sadly screaming gasoline powered V10 engines are about as common as New York Jets playoff victories. The good news is that a Lexus LFA successor is on the way. And while it will not have a V10 engine that doesn’t mean it can’t match the appeal of the original.

The LFA will be an EV so unless it is artificially created it won’t make any of the glorious noises the original made. However, a supercar is not judged on sound alone. Any vehicle that claims to be a supercar needs to have a stunning design. And this is where the LFA successor looks to score some major points. Posted to the Supercar Blondie YouTube channel is a video showing the LFA successor concept for the very first time. Yes, this is a concept and not everything we see here will make it to production. But it should give us a good idea of the design direction. And if the real thing looks anything close to the concept Lexus is going to do the LFA proud.

Concept Limits

One thing to keep in mind at the outset is this LFA successor is still early in the concept stage. As such the doors don’t open and the windows are pitch black. So, we have to use our imagination to visualize the interior. Also, the car does not drive. There is no road test here, no acceleration runs or hard launches. That is all to come at a later date. For now, focus on the exterior design. Does it look like a supercar? We certainly think so.

Overall Design

Elements of the original LFA can clearly been seen in the LFA successor concept. The vents on the hood and the front bumper are the most obvious. And is it just us or do you all see a little Toyota Supra in the side profile? One thing that is a bit curious about the overall design is that the front and rear of the car look very similar. If you took a quick glance, you could easily think the back of the car was the front. But aside from that symmetrical look the overall design looks terrific. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but it would be tough to complain if the actual car looks anything like this concept.

Design Details

Taking a closer look at some of the more interesting details of the design we see some fun touches. For example, the charging port is designed to look like a traditional fuel filler door. The concept car rides on 20-inch wheels up front and 21-inch wheels out back. The car is shown with center-lock wheels. That is something that we hope doesn’t make it to production. They are cool looking and all but in the real-world center-lock wheels are a pain in the neck to deal with.

Exciting Times

This is our first look at the LFA successor so there are many more details to come. But what we do see here is very encouraging. The first LFA was a supercar homerun that collectors will be fighting over for years to come. The follow up version looks to be on track to be another hit. And this time around buyers may very well snatch them up a whole lot faster.
