GS F Press Release

As expected, the new sedan will run the same 467hp, 389lb-ft V8 and eight-speed gearbox found in the RC F. It will also come standard with the Torque Vectoring Differential (TVD), which is a pricey option on the coupe.

The car is being marketed—and many Lexus faithful see it as—as another incursion into German territory, as the sports sedan is clearly aimed to cull customers from the BMW M5 and Mercedes E63 AMG.

Obviously, how the latest Lexus stacks up against the Germans in the real world remains to be seen. It’s worth noting that the BMW’s V8 pumps out a 560hp and 502-lb-ft, and the Mercedes 5.5L biturbo eight-pot produces an even healthier 577hp and 590lb-ft, which, while offset somewhat by its lighter curb weight, puts the Lexus at a not-insubstantial power deficit. Driving dynamics are going to be key—and I can’t wait to get my hands on one.
