15 Awesome Minutes Behind the Wheel of a Lexus LFA: (Fridays are for F Presented by Continental ExtremeContact DWS^{06 Plus})

Why are we obsessed with the Lexus LFA? Slide in and buckle up for one heck of a ride.

There are a handful of cars and trucks that become indisputable automotive legends. Each “G.O.A.T.” vehicle earned their spot for different reasons; but they remain iconic for generally the same abiding reason: they changed the rules. Most automakers traditionally spend a few years establishing an identity, building a fan base. Today we see the auto landscape changing rapidly to accommodate the electric vehicle revolution. But in the rush to roll out new technology, we think–and hope–that there will still be those hoping to capture lightning in a bottle. Those vehicles that grab us at first sight or first sound and blow our minds. The Lexus LFA is the very definition of that car. From the moment Lexus debuted the LFA it left an immediate and indelible impact. It is simply an amazing, unmatched vehicle.

Any opportunity to revisit the masterpiece that is the Lexus LFA supercar is welcome with great enthusiasm. One would have to made of stone to have no reaction to the LFA. This is not just Lexus at its finest, but Toyota as well. Seeing the tremendous achievements that the automaker reached with the LFA or the Supra it is … well, frustrating, to be honest.

We understand that the automakers need to pay attention to varying trends in sales. But some risks are worth taking. Even if only rarely. That courage to build something beautiful, different, and a little insane is what gave us the LFA.

In a recent video, auto journalist Tedward is spending the day driving a Lexus LFA. Nice work if you can get it. Thankfully, he let us live vicariously by filming the ride. And the perspective from the drivers seat is just breathtaking.

If there was ever any question as to what makes the LFA a magnificent machine, the answer is the V10. The 4.8-liter V10 makes 553 horses of crackling energy, with an exhaust note that is possibly one of the most feral. You feel that V10 rippling up and down your spine, and it is an infectious chaos.

“Never has my right foot had so much control over my smile,” says Tedward.

Experiencing the LFA on the road is powerful. The handling is responsive, it is smooth but dominating. Engineered to produce the finest caliber of performance, the LFA never disappoints.

Watching, feeling, and listening to the mastery, it is clear that when Lexus F performance is at its best, it is a marvel.

Is it too much to hope that Lexus and Toyota might buck convention, ignore the R&D and sales figures, and just knock out another supercar that makes everyone take notice? It took the absence of logic to make the LFA. Let’s hope the team loses their sense again. It might just be the right recipe for more greatness.
