Lexus LC 500 Shines as a Grand Tourer, Says ‘The Australian’

The Lexus LC 500, in a way, is a return to form for the automaker. It’s about proving that when the engineers and designers are given free reign to create something epic — like they did with the glorious LFA a few years back — they can still make magic happen. The Australian got behind the wheel of a LC 500 and found that it’s a very special machine. But, of course, we already knew that.

The LC 500 is a looker. Seeing one in the flesh is the only way you can appreciate the lines, curves, and edges of the machine, and you can’t help but stare at the vehicle. “When you see this car you will look twice,” says The Australian. “There’s the daring frontal composition: the grille is like a fishnet hourglass, and the melting-with-the-heat detailing recalls the bendy clocks of Salvador Dalí.”

The coupe’s gorgeous design continues to the interior where the latest technology and the automaker’s extensive attention to detail work cohesively for a lavish feel. “The interior is gorgeous – nobly appointed, serene in space and design, with smart tech incorporated in a stitched-leather landscape,” says The Australian. As the outlet put it, everyone can agree on just how pretty the interior is.

Another defining characteristic of the LC 500 is its “creamier-than-usual,” naturally-aspirated 5.0-liter V8 engine. The motor, as The Australian put it, has a resonant voice that sounds “like Morgan Freeman pumped into the cabin by special acoustic tunnels.” The gearbox, a new 10-speed unit, is also a noteworthy talking point with “200-millisecond gearshifts coming in march cadence.”

There are numerous options for drivers looking to get into a high-performance coupe on the market right now, but the LC 500 is a champ. As The Australian put it, “I think the LC 500 takes the stuffings out of anything in this category.”
