$2Million LC500 Convertible VIN 001 Lands in the Rockies
Lexus dealer Kent Stevinson paid $2 million for the honor of owning the first LC500 Convertible at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale in January.
The hottest Lexus on the block is the 2021 LC500 Convertible. The flagship LC500 loses its fixed roof, gaining a soft top ready to let the sunshine in. With 470 horses on tap from the 5.0-liter V8, that sun will fly right by, too.
Deliveries just began for the new LC500 Convertible, but one lucky owner took delivery of No. 1. According to Motor1, this Lexus landed in the Rockies, home of Coors (the beer and the field), and Stevinson Lexus of Lakewood, Colorado.
“To actually see the car eight months later from seeing the prototype at Barrett-Jackson, it was quite the presentation and it hits you that this is vehicle number one,” said Kent Stevinson in a statement.
Back in January, Stevinson bid $2 million to own the first-ever LC500 Convertible, according to Motor1. The entire bid, made during the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, went to two charities: Boys & Girls Club of America, and the Bob Woodruff Foundation.
No. 100001 wears Structural Blue over white leather. That’s not all, however. Stevinson’s LC500 Convertible came with a few goodies. Said goodies include a framed sketch from the car’s designer, Tadao Mori, and a certificate of authenticity. Autographs on the engine cover from Lexus boss Koji Sato and engineer Yasushi Moto are the cherry on top.
In another first, Stevinson’s LC500 Convertible is also the first delivered to the United States. Meanwhile, it’s also a one-of-one, as its appearance derives from the the LC Inspiration Series. And of course, there’s matching luggage from Zero Halliburton, made to fit the trunk of the Lexus. Finally, should Stevinson want to wring out the big V8, he’ll have quite the expert riding shotgun: motorsport legend Scott Pruett.
“We couldn’t be happier to usher in the launch of the all-new LC500 Convertible by raising $2 million for two deserving charities,” said Lexus GM David Christ. “With Mr. Stevinson’s generous winning bid, it just proves we have the absolute best dealers in the industry!”
Not a bad deal for everyone involved, to say the least.
