Now you can build your own Lexus LX F thanks to Toyota.

In a world where many popular automotive models see some sort of refresh every 2-3 years, the Lexus LX is a dinosaur of sorts. The large, luxury laden off-roader has lumbered on the market, largely unchanged, for nearly a decade. And even we admit that it’s getting a little long in the tooth. But the LX is still a capable and comfortable full size SUV in a world where crossovers dominate sales sheets.

So what’s a fan of do-it-all mega ‘utes to do if they want their ride to look newer than one built years ago? Why, slap on some styling upgrades, of course! And now you can do just that, thanks to Toyota Racing Development’s brand new Lexus LX body kit.

The distinctive looking kit consists of restyled front and rear bumpers, spindle grille, and 21″ black forged wheels. Altogether, we’d say it looks pretty darn cool. The only downside? You’ll give up a little bit of the LX’s off-road ability with a 30mm loss of ground clearance both up front and out back. And you’ll have to remove the front grille/bumper or rear bumper spoiler if you need to use a tow hook. But that’s a small price to pay to look cool, right?

TRD does say that both bits help create additional downforce and improve straight line stability. And the forged aluminum wheels reduce the big ute’s unsprung weight, in case you’re interested in autocrossing the thing. The price to build what’s essentially your own home brewed LX F? The front bumper retails for $2,074, the rear bumper another $721, and the wheels add $6,765.

Not a bad deal, really, when you consider that price includes paint matching for both bumpers. And if you’re tired of waiting for a new LX, you won’t find a better alternative on the market at the moment.
