Bad Ad

These days, advertisements are everywhere as more and more people shun live TV and other traditional methods of delivery. Thus, companies have gone to new lengths to shove ads in our face, whether that be sponsoring our favorite YouTuber's videos or even placing them on a vehicle's infotainment screen, which was the case with a Lexus vehicle recently called out by a Reddit user.

Real Life Pop Up

The ad in question was placed in a vehicle's infotainment system by Performance Lexus in Landen, Ohio, and it's quite honestly pretty cheesy looking. The ad is a simple "thank you" with a smiley face and Performance Lexus' contact information, which can be readily obtained in a number of ways other than via this annoying real-life pop-up.

Old Fashioned

It looks like something one might find in the old phone book yellow pages, which makes it even worse than having to look at an ad every time you start up your car already is. As one might imagine, a number of Redditors came out of the woodwork to make fun of this atrocity, while others pointed out that it can be removed by the user, thankfully.

Complicated Process

Removing it isn't terribly easy, however, as it's a process that involves completing a number of steps. First, you must create a folder named "Image" on a USB flash drive, add your picture to it, then navigate to the proper settings menu buried deep within Lexus' software to switch it out. The full instructions can be found in this helpful video.

Major Turnoff?

For a younger, tech-savvy person, such a job isn't difficult by any means, but for older customers that already have a hard time operating their smartphones, it may prove to be quite frustrating. Would it be enough to make them not want to do business with a certain dealership again? Well, it's certainly possible.

Effective or No?

The real question here is - why would the dealer do this in the first place? We get that businesses need to advertise, but would an ad like this actually make someone want to go buy a vehicle from this particular dealer? If anything else, we think it's a good reason not to do that, which makes the ad a giant waste of time and money.
