Model Year Updates

The seventh-generation Lexus ES launched in 2018 for the 2019 model year and ushered in some major changes for the long-running sedan that wound up making it an even bigger hit with consumers. The ES is also on sale in several global markets, including Europe, where the luxury sedan is getting a few updates for the 2023 model year.

Tech Updates

These updates start with the multimedia system, which has been enhanced with wireless smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay (or wired connection via Android Auto), cloud-based navigation, and voice recognition. Cloud-based navigation gives access to real-time road and traffic information for easier trip planning and avoidance of delays, and can also access information about local fuel prices and parking, too.

Hey Lexus

The 2023 ES also includes the "Hey Lexus" on-board assistant which responds to voice commands. Recognizing 19 different European languages, it can understand and respond to informal comments - increasing temperature in the cabin, for example, after being told: “I’m cold.”

Connectivity

The vehicle's DCM (data communication module) is also now capable of connecting to e-Care, a service that can provide advice to drivers, in the rare event of a technical failure, by diagnosing vehicle data. The DCM upgrade has also made it possible for owners to remotely access the ES with the Lexus Link smartphone app. This can remotely lock or unlock the doors, trigger the hazard lights, and set the air conditioning or heating before getting into the car.

Interior Updates

Inside the cabin, the front center console has been revised in the 2023 ES to accommodate two cup holders, a wireless phone charger, a USB-A port for playback of high-resolution sound sources, and one USB-C port for device charging. In terms of interior color choices, Rich Cream has been replaced by Ammonite Sand for the 2023 model year.

F Sport Design

The 2023 Lexus ES F Sport Design is also making its debut in Europe, offering up all the styling updates of the regular F Sport without the performance enhancements. Those include black 19-inch alloy wheels, a choice of 10 exterior and four interior colors, and an F Sport Design badge on each front fender.
