Grippy tire!!!
Howdy,
Just picked up a set of Bridgestone Potenza S001 tires. Haven't seen anything on this board about them. Seem to be more popular in Europe.
They are Run Flats but third generation so the ride quality is still very good. The thing I have noticed the most is just how "grippy" they are. Still haven't been able to squeal them around the on ramps
If you are in need of tires, check 'em out.

With a tread wear rating of 280, they should be "grippy". My Hankook V12s are rated at 280 also but have a traction rating of AA, compared to the A rating of the Bridgestones. $1,800 is a lot of money for a set of tires though. I picked up my rear 255s from Discount Tire Direct for $340 shipped and spent another $30 to have them put on. Glad you are loving the S001s though, that's what matters.

I am surprised at the price for the small size of the tires. Its probably the run flat technology with the good tread wear rating. I just mounted a set of Michelin PS2 on my LS460 for $2200 and they are 22" wheels 255/30/22 and 295/25/22, but the tread wear is only 140 I think.
I hope you have many happy miles miles and exciting corners with them

Run Flats are expensive, but you paid nearly double the cost for a good set of 265/70/20 All terrain's for my Ram. Thats a lot of dough when Roadside is 40 bones a year (or less in some cases).
But to each his own, I hope you have $1800 worth of fun on them.

Let's fix some misconceptions in this thread.
Bridgestones new runflats drive much like a normal tire - they've added cooling fins to the tires sidewalls to dissipate heat when running low on air pressure, which negates the need for as stiff of a sidewall. Because of this, for instance, a 3g runflat tire in the re960 tread design rides and handles very similarly to the normal re960...
Secondly, just because you get a nail in a tire doesn't mean the tire has to be replaced, at least by Bridgestone standards. There may be a tire manufacturer that doesn't allow repairs, but that escapes me right now... Bridgestones policy is if the tire has been operated low on air pressure that it can't be repaired - just like a regular tire that damages the sidewall when run low on air. My suggestion, purchase road hazard warranty so it doesn't matter...
